For a Cjild's Smile Gala dinnerFor a Child’s Smile (FCS) London Gala Dinner

Thanks to the hospitality and generosity of the French Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, on the 11th June 2009, the FCS team organised a Gala dinner at the French Ambassador’s Residence in Kensington, London.

Gala2Marie-France and Christian des Pallières, founders of Pour un Sourire d’Enfant - PSE (the Cambodian based charity for which For a Child's Smile is the UK fund raising arm), along with the For a Child's Smile team and 80 of our generous donors, attended the evening, which kicked off with cocktails in the beautiful gardens of the Residence overlooking Kensington Gardens. These were accompanied by Laurence David singing French classics such as Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel.

Following an introduction by Mr Gourdault-Montagne and a few words of thanks from Caroline de La Rochère, chairman of For a Child's Smile, a short film on the work being done in Cambodia by PSE was shown to guests.

Gala3During the course of a sumptuous dinner, a raffle and an auction, kindly conducted by Emma Chesley from Christie's, were held in a most convivial and enthusiastic atmosphere. Thanks to all donors, a generous sum of £35,000 was raised. This money will be of great help to the various and important projects undertaken by PSE and FCS for the children in Cambodia.
