New school manuals for remedial classes in primary levelWhy?Most of our children, who did not go to school, or who had to stop because their families did not have any means, were too old to be re-integrated into the education system. Those children needed to catch up rapidly. That is why Pour un Sourire d’Enfant-For a Child’s Smile (PSE) has launched a specific school manual for them, based on an accelerated teaching method, covering six academic levels of primary classes in only three years. But the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS) has recently changed the national curriculum, so the school manuals that are currently being used at PSE are out of date. The projectThe project aims at providing new school manuals that allows over-aged children to complete their primary education at an accelerated pace in accordance with the new national curriculum developed by the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS). It will consist in developing text books in the four main subject areas required at the primary level: Mathematics, Science, Social sciences (History/Geography, Morals/Civics, Arts, Technology), and Khmer language. Twelve text books will be designed, written and delivered in the four subject areas, that is to say four books a year. More than 1000 children in primary classes will directly benefit from the project. The budgetEstimated cost (rate €/$ = 1.3): 4,400.00 = € 72,600 Funding still required (31/05/11): € 24, 200 Partnership opportunitiesPartially or entirely support the project. For example: - Funding one school manual: 6,050 €, - Funding four school manuals for one year: 24,200 €
